2001 Porsche 996 Turbo
The 996 Turbo is widely appreciated as a turning point in Porsche’s history. It introduced the now iconic “fried egg” headlights and brought the well known Mezger engine – derived from the 911 GT1 race car – into series production, combining everyday usability with tireless performance and durability. Today, the 996 Turbo is increasingly desired as it bridges the air-cooled heritage with the modern era. This example represents a great opportunity to acquire one of the most significant 996 Turbos ever built.
Delivered new via Porsche Zentrum Göttingen on January 9th, 2001 to its first custodian. This 6-speed manual transmission 996 Turbo was factory specified in L3A8 – Lapis Blau Metallic over SM – Savanna Beige Full Leather and optioned with Porsche Exclusive full leather bucket seats (XSE & XSF) and rear seat delete (XSN). It stands out as a driver-focused specification that brings it closer in spirit to the GT2 and GT3 of the same generation while retaining the all-weather usability of the Turbo.
Presented for sale with 78,738 km from new, accident free and retaining mostly its first paint and matching-numbers engine and gearbox. It still retains much of the original brown factory wax protection underneath, a remarkable detail considering its mileage and age. The car remains unmodified and free of aftermarket alterations. As part of our pre-sale internal vehicle preparation protocol, the bodywork and interior have been fully detailed. Furthermore, one of the most common problems with turbo’s — the rear spoiler piston system — has been revised and works faultlessly.
Accompanied by extensive documentation and provenance, it includes the original service book stamped from day one with no maintenance gaps, owner’s manuals, leather pouch, the 2016 purchase invoice of the last owner, and previous German registration documents (“Fahrzeugbrief”), documenting its history from 2001 to the present day.
With its rare Porsche Exclusive specification, documented provenance, matching-numbers and excellent originality, this 996 Turbo represents not only one of the most distinctive examples of its generation, but also an opportunity to acquire a true future classic of the water-cooled 911 era.
